MIKAELI WOOD, LEAD BAKER
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Pablo Picasso
Hi, I’m Mikaeli! I am a lover of creating, baking, and of all things sweet. I am a self-taught baker, who has learned through many trials and errors. I love baking treats of all kind; cakes, cheesecakes, pies, pastries, cookies and more! I have dreamt about opening a bakery ever since I can remember. I would get in the kitchen to help at any chance I could. As a baby I sat on the counter covered in flour, helping make cookies for my first birthday celebration. My play dates with friends consisted of making a mess of the kitchen with box cake mix and canned frosting. My sister and I would play with my Easy Bake Oven for hours. A few years in a row I requested to have cake baking and decorating birthday parties as I was growing up. As I got older, my hobby continued to grow and transform into a passion that I couldn’t let go of.
Desserts to me, have a very emotional connection with people. I love that desserts bring people together; you want to share good food with people you love. The reason why I bake is for the joy I get in my heart when people share happiness through one of my desserts. Sweets bring joy, bliss, pleasure, and comfort. No matter what is going on in life, it makes those moments in life just a little bit sweeter. Something as humble and simple as a piece of cake is able to bring so much celebration in the tiniest moments of life.
If I ask myself, what is it that you can do every day for the rest of your life? My answer would be, bake. Baking is the thing that gets me up in the morning and gets me excited. The kitchen is my happy place and keeps me centered.
This is something that I never thought in my wildest dreams would happen. But we serve a great and mighty God who goes before us and makes a way. Glory be to God who is able to do far more than we could ever ask, hope, or imagine due to the power that is within Him.
